As President of the company, Ken Miks is the driving force behind the success of Plate Line Framers Inc.

A third generation carpenter who grew up in the Tri-Valley area, Ken started working for a building contractor fresh out of high school in 1985. Typical to Kens determined attitude, he started as a hod carrier, which some would say is the hardest job in construction. Within 3 months, Ken went from being the new guy on the job to becoming the highest paid, and Lead hod carrier onsite. Eager to learn more and wanting to advance, Ken took a job as a Framer. He started buying the necessary tools and throwing them in the back of his Volkswagen square-back to head to work. This marked the beginning of Kens quest to accumulate the knowledge and experience that would lead him to start his own company one day.

Always passionate to know more about anything that he is interested in, Ken began to study a large array of books and programs to further his education in the home building industry. To become more proficient in technology, he read books about roof cutting and Algebra. This research eventually inspired him to write computer programs that helped him frame the houses faster, and more precisely.

From 1985 to 1991 Ken grew in knowledge and tooling, acquired his California State Contractors License, and in 1992 decided he was ready to venture into business ownership and start his own Framing company. Married with 3 children, Ken started running Ken Miks Construction out of his home. Plan work was done late at night on the kitchen table, after long days working and oftentimes coaching Little League for his sons. Ken began to build a name for himself, working 60 to 70 hours per week. His reputation soon grew as one of the best Framing Contractors in the Bay Area.

In these early years his work was primarily with builders that constructed tract homes. This taught Ken the importance of mass production at a high speed, while still maintaining an extremely high quality product.

Seeking to be more challenged, Ken decided to move into the field of custom home building. With the experience he gained building tract homes, and his self taught education in the math and technology pertaining to Framing, this new arena was a perfect fit. In 2001 He decided to incorporate the business, and change the name to Plate Line Framers. This decision served as a reset button and motivated Ken to ensure that Plate Line Framers Inc. become known as the fastest, cleanest, and most efficient custom home Framer in the Bay Area. His company established a reputation for being the premier organization to frame luxury custom residences, multi family buildings, and remodel projects.

Ken attributes much of his success to hiring the best people in the industry to work for him. Everyone on the Plate Line Framers team is required to have the same PASSION, DETERMINATION, and HUSTLE, which leads to us all working towards the same goals, sharing the same vision,  and keeping our clients happy by delivering an exceptional product at lightning speed.
